OPEN HAND SELF DEFENSE
Hello again everyone! I hope the New Year has treated everyone good so far. We kicked the New Year off with our feet on the ground running. So many exciting things are planned for this year.
TUESDAY, MARCH 10TH IS THE FIRST TESTING DATE FOR THE YEAR! The promotion ceremony/banquet date has changed. It will be held FRIDAY, March 13th, at Forrest Inn. Please arrive about 4:15-4:30. This is for ALL students and family. Everyone is responsible for their own check. We will be a large group that represents Open Hands Self Defense. Please dress and act accordingly. We do need a head count so that we can make our reservation. Please sign up by February 21st. The week before testing, we will post on the website and message board at class who is going to be testing. Youth testing will begin at 4:30. Adult testing begins at 7:30. Even if you are one not testing, please try to attend to support your fellow martial artists.
June 16th will be the second testing date of the year. Our promotion ceremony will be our annual cookout/potluck held at Rockwood Park again. This will be Friday, June19th. Time will be announced closer to that date.
Now, as you have noticed, we switched the promotion ceremony/banquets to Friday nights. Yes, this means no regular classes on these dates.
The flu and cold season are hitting super hard this year. We understand that you don’t want to miss class. For the health and well-being of our instructors, we ask that if you have a cold, please wear a mask. If our instructors get sick, we must cancel their classes, and we really don’t want to do that. Keep your uniforms washed weekly. Clean your lockers out. No old cups or clothing are left in them. Lockers need to be kept orderly, please. There are hooks inside lockers to hang your uniform on. Please stop disrespecting your uniform by throwing it in the bottom of your locker.
For all those in MS2 class! Remember, classes are now Tuesday and Thursday from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M.
Ok, something no one likes to hear. We need ideas for a fundraiser. As a non-profit organization, we need to raise some funds for some new equipment such as kick pads, hitting pads, and a few other things we use almost daily. If you have any funds raising ideas, please talk with Miss Tammy.
It may be wintertime now, but before you know it, summer will be here, which means T-SHIRT TIME. Since Grand Master Morris does all the shirts himself, we ask that you start ordering now for summer. Order sheets will be available on the message board in our seating area.
We have decided, that whenever the schools cancel class, We will also cancel classes. This is to ensure the safety of our students and our instructors. Thank you for understanding.
