OPEN HAND SELF DEFENSE

SERIOUSLY! AUGUST ALREADY? WHERE DID  THE SUMMER GO? WHERE DID HALF A YEAR GO?

Yep, that’s right, we’re already over half way through the year, and what a year it has been so far. So many changes,  so much growth in our students! It’s not just how tall they all have gotten but also how their minds have expanded and their capability to learn and retain things.

What a busy month it will be too! We have the Whiteside county fair starting August 18th, and here is the reminder! WE ARE CLOSED ALL THAT WEEK 17TH -22ND. Everyone enjoy the fair.  Please ALL STUDENTS, take all clothing home from your lockers by Friday the 14th. We will be cleaning and sanitizing lockers. Fair time?! Wait, that means it’s that nasty 6 letter word time too. That’s right: SCHOOL will be starting soon too. Kids are saying yuck, but moms and dads are saying YES FINALLY!!! With school comes more sports, homework, football games, and school dances. Have fun with all that too!

August 6th is another POP UP MARKET, so we will be closed that day. Once again, we are setting up for the market, in hopes to sell a few trinkets and promote the school more. WE HAVE MORE FLOOR SPACE FOR NEW STUDENTS—young and older.

Hopefully, everyone got the hand out for our FALL FEAST!!!! If you have not received one, there is one hanging on our message board, or ask for one. This is also our celebration for the September 15th testing. The date will be September 26th, starting at 1p.m. tasting and judging will start about 1:30 and ,yes, at our favorite spot, Rockwood State Park!

We are so excited about the expansion of the TAI CHI classes. We have a great group for the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning classes. Then, we have a whole different group for the Tuesday and Thursday evening classes. In my opinion, I think everyone of our parents who has kid in our youth class should try one of the TAI CHI classes.

Last but not least, we are on call for new student inquiries during the week of the fair.  CALL 815-718-3994.

Mark those calendars now!! September 26th is our Fall Feast

As discussed, we are having our the Fall Feast: chili, soup, casserole, and fall desserts cook off!!!!!

Make any of your favorite fall soups or chili, even a hearty fall casserole. Please only mark if there is dairy in it. No one is to know what you are making because we will be having a contest. Yes, a few prizes are in the works.

Besides the main dishes, bring your favorite fall dessert. Once again, just mark if it has dairy in it.

For voting, everyone will get three tickets, kids too. There will a cup in front of every dish. Everyone gets three votes for their favorite dishes. You can vote for two desserts and a main dish, three main dishes or any way that you want to use your voting tickets. Doesn’t matter how you vote.
